CF Appreciation Night

Thursday night saw the Ottawa Redblacks take on the BC Lions at TD Place in Ottawa but before the game started, time was taken to say thanks to the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces as it was Canadian Forces Appreciation Night at TD Place. The flag party marched out with the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces and played the national Anthem and then the coin toss was done by CPO Vigneault, with Vice-Admiral Ron LLoyd, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, and Rear-Admiral Gilles Couturier, Deputy Commander of the RCN. The fly-by of two CF-18s prior to game time was low and loud. I’m sure the people on the top floor of the apartment building across the street from the stadium had rattled windows as the jets were REALLY low.

There was military participation at half-time with two teams of military personnel, one from the north stands and one from the south stands, that competed in Beach Ball Battle where they tried to place a giant beach ball in the middle of the field while trying to stop the other team from doing the same.

Oh, and the game was good too, although the BC Lions beat the Redblacks 29-23.
