Hercules Interior

Have you ever wanted to see the inside of a Hercules aircraft? Me neither but that was the assignment – to photograph the inside of the CC-130E that was recently handed over to the Canada Space and Aviation Museum by the RCAF. The assignment was non-specific about what was required, only that photographs were required.

The task, in fact, is more complicated. First, the Herc is two distinct environments: the cargo area which is just a big, very dark, cigar tube and the cockpit which is a window covered greenhouse. So, shoot in just about absolute darkness and then go and shoot against daylight so powerful that it overwhelms everything and all the reflective surfaces of windows and instrument dials in the cockpit. Not to mention the soaring heat of the day (greenhouse – remember) and no room to move or bring in equipment.

Anyway, 6 hours later we have some pictures. To see them all, CLICK HERE
