Ducks vs GOFOs Hockey

Followers will notice that in this gallery of hockey pictures there are no pictures of the American players. It’s not that I didn’t take any or they didn’t play well but rather a personal decision taken by me to not display any images with Americans as the primary subjects given the threats, policies and disrespect directed towards Canada by the American government, especially “Vice-President” Trump and his minions.

I hold no animosity to any American in a one-to-one situation as the Americans I know seem to be normal, everyday folks, with senses of humour, goodwill towards all and without prejudice to most other countries (although the official naughty list is getting longer with the additions of Canada, Mexico, Panama, Denmark, Greenland, Germany, Ukraine – and the hits keep coming.). I’m sure everyone at the American Embassy is also worried about what will happen to them and their jobs when the “Muskovites” turn their attention to the Foreign Service.

You may say that the American players have nothing to do with the politics of the situation and should not be singled out but I would argue just the opposite. Members of the American Embassy represent the American government and their policies – that is their sole job and mandate. As well, given that Republicans garnered 49.81% of the election votes means that one out of every two Americans voted for Trump which also means that the odds are one out of two Americans working in the Embassy voted for Trump as well and support his policies.

Going forward, for any event that I’m hired to cover, I will continue to take pictures of members from the American Embassy or other American institutions as I always have. I will present them to my event clients as usual as part of the event imagery (as that is what I’m being paid for) but I won’t be displaying images with Americans as the prime subject on my Facebook page or website going forward until the US Government becomes more reasonable in its dealings with Canada specifically and the world in general.

Just because you put a crown on a clown doesn’t mean you get a king. It might be a while.

For those keeping track of the game, after four periods it was a 9-9 tie and they decided to leave it at that. To make my job harder, the teams were mixed up with GOFOs wearing Ducks jerseys, Ducks in GOFOs jerseys, and players wearing jerseys with the wrong name and/or country patch. So, a Duck could be a GOFO, a GOFO could be a Duck, and they could be from any country. If you see a jersey from your country, remember that anyone could be wearing it.
