Theatre in the Cemetery

The Company of Fools performed The 12th Night from its Torchlight Shakespeare Series on Friday night behind the Mausoleum at Beechwood Cemetery. The weather was lovely and warm without the humidity that we’ve been experiencing and a gentle wind to keep the mosquitoes away. And, although it was heavily overcast with clouds, the rain stayed away for the entire performance.

Earlier in the day, the Fools had performed at a Celebration of Life at Beechwood in remembrance of someone who had loved their concept of humour and performance which, was fitting. Where else other than Beechwood would such a thing even be contemplated let alone actually sanctioned.

The Fools had a good turnout of several hundred people sitting on everything from just grass to an inflatable couch. The performance was high spirited with enough humour, both physical and theatrical, to please both hard core theatre patrons and people less so. It seemed to have been very well received by the audience.
