King and Queen of the Netherlands

Today was a busy day with 3 events of which the first was CANSEC, which I’ll post in a couple of days. However, today I got to shot royalty again as their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands arrived in town and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra was on hand to play the Canadian national anthem and the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces play the Netherlands national anthem. This was a quick affair of perhaps 15 minutes but I was a little disappointed as the photographers were all kept behind barriers so we all got the same pictures of their Majesties.

An hour and a half after that, the Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra gave their last performance in Ottawa on the Terrace of the National Arts Centre. This was a scaled down show from the previous two and did not have the lights, video, or stage space either. However, there was a nice mixture of older songs for the veterans and the two singers were outstanding.
